ABOUT US
We are a small firm of ARB registered Architects with a focus on creating beautiful sustainable buildings. Working in St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding areas since 2012, we provide a full range of architectural services for home extensions and refurbishments, new build and development projects. We also work on commercial projects including education (schools and nurseries) and small commercial premises.
Our aim is to deliver well designed spaces and buildings. We listen carefully to your brief, aims and aspirations and respond with an appropriate design solution which meets your needs, and aims to exceed your expectations.

Katie is a director and co-founder of Lingwood Design. Qualified and registered with the ARB since 2008, Katie brings extensive design experience to the practice.

Previously at Rock Townsend, Katie worked on a number of large scale education projects, becoming proficient in space planning, concept design and site master planning.
With experience working on high end residential schemes in the UK and Spain, Katie is an expert at resolving demanding project briefs and making the most of a tricky site to achieve planning consent.

Having worked with St Albans District Council, Watford, Hertsmere and other nearby planning departments for many years, Katie can help guide your projects through the planning process to minimise delays and identify constraints and opportunities at an early stage.

Katie's passion for sustainability is embedded in all her work, she believes that sustainable buildings should be affordable, practical, comfortable and delightful in use. She was awarded a distinction for her MSc in Energy Efficient and Sustainable Buildings, and understands how to balance competing demands on project budgets, to deliver beautiful, light filled and sustainable homes.

Alex is a director and co-founder of Lingwood Design. An ARB registered Architect and multi-talented designer with experience in property development, self-build design and construction, and low energy buildings, Alex understands how to deliver sustainable projects from concept through to completion.
Previously a founding director at XC02 Energy, a low carbon building design consultancy, and panel member on the Technology Strategy Board Building Performance Evaluation Program, Alex has been involved in a number of innovative low energy design projects all the way through the design, delivery and in use evaluation process. He applies his knowledge of appropriate technologies and best practice to help clients get the best from their projects.

With an eye for detail, Alex's technical knowledge of building services, construction techniques and structural design allows quick problem solving on site to provide a well coordinated end product. Alex has considerable experience working with local contractors to enable you to get best value and fulfil your vision.
